Changan Ford to unveil new models at Auto Shanghai 2011
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 6) - Changan Automobile Group, in association with its partner Ford, will be showcasing four new vehicles at Auto Shanghai 2011 later this month, the Chongqing Evening News reported today. Changan will also be showing off its new Voss concept minivan.
Changan Ford has already announced that in addition to new Focus, it will be bringing the C-MAX compact minivan (pictured above) to the exhibition. According to sources within the JV, Changan Ford has faith that the relatively immature minivan market in China (where minivans constitute about 3 percent of the market as compared to over 10 percent in the West) will help sales of the C-MAX.
Information remains scant on the remaining two models, which are speculated to be a subcompact sedan and a Kuga-based SUV. Along with the C-MAX, they are geared up for domestic production beginning next year.
The Ford Voss concept (pictured below), meanwhile, looks to bring new flair to the show. Sporting gullwing-style doors and lacking a conventional B-piller, the Voss clearly has something different to offer from other traditional minivans.
In other news, Changan’s recently established joint venture with PSA announced it will have its own stand at the show, where it will be showing off several models from Citroen’s DS line.
