India's Tata Motors says March global sales up 9%

Reuters - Tata Motors Ltd (TAMO.NS), India's largest truck and bus maker, said on Friday its global vehicle sales rose 9 percent in March to 110,785 units.

Global sales of commercial vehicles grew 19 percent to 56,814 in March, while sales of passenger vehicles were at 53,971 units, the company said in a statement.

Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR) sales rose 2 percent to 24,101 units, driven by an 8 percent rise in Land Rover sales.

Tata bought the British luxury brand unit JLR from Ford Motor Co (F.N) for $2.3 billion in 2008.

Tata Motors, part of India's salt-to-software conglomerate Tata group, manufactures commercial and utility vehicles, cars and the Nano, touted as the world's cheapest car.
