European vehicle sales in China predicted to rise

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 4) - Sales of European vehicles in China are looking keep on rising, the Guangzhou Daily reported a yearly study from J.D. Power and Associates' Asian division. The study also concluded that sales of domestically manufactured and imported Japanese vehicles will continue to decrease.

Research on Chinese purchasing tendancies has been carried out for three years now, with each report predicting the attitude of buyers for the upcoming year. The report summarizes brand awareness, effect of advertising and other factors to determine the potential attitude of buyers. This year's study covered 161 vehicles from nine segments and 65 brands.

The report predicts that sales of European vehicles should be 25 to 32 percent higher than in 2009. It cites consumers feelings towards safety and technology as the key reasons for the increase.

Meanwhile the report predicts sales of Japanese and domestic cars to fall 27 and 20 percent from 2009, respectively.
