Skoda to introduce new models as Chinese sales reach new highs

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 11) - Skoda is preparing to release five new models in the future, the Guangzhou Daily reported today. The announcement comes as the manufacturer announced its Chinese sales performance since the beginning of the year. Skoda sold 112,110 vehicles from January to June, accounting for over half of its global sales.

Skoda's Chinese performance is going as smoothly as ever, according to company CEO Winfried Vahland. "We hope that we will be able to bring the experience accumulated in Europe to China," Dr. Vahland said, adding that he hopes that he can bring Chinese experience back to Europe in the future.

Skoda's market share in the country looks to reach 28 to 30 percent in four years, assessed Jia Mingdi, head of sales and marketing for parent company Shanghai Volkswagen. The joint venture is expected to sell 1.5 million vehicles in 2015.

Skoda is planning to increase its domestic dealer network to over 400 locations in the upcoming future. The manufacturer will be bringing over five new models to China starting next year, including the Yeti compact SUV (pictured).
