Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 8) - The Shandong Electric Power Corporation, a branch of China's largest energy provider State Grid, will be constructing large-scale electric vehicle charging stations on both sides of its expressways, the CNR reported today. The station network will be concentrated near the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway.

The construction is part of the company's goal for the Twelfth Five-Year Guideline national economic drive. The network looks to be an important component whole nation's electric network in the next five years. The expansion also looks to bolster Shandong province's electric vehicle industry. The SGCC plans to construct enough stations to ensure that there is one located every 30 km to 50 km. Each station would be around 100 square meters large.

Shandong's electric network will focus on battery replacement as its key service, with plug-in charging being given a secondary role. 3,704 installations will be built within the next five years.
