Dongfeng Peugeot to manufacture 3008 in China next year
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 18) - Lei Xinzeng, president of Dongfeng Peugeot, announced at the Auto Shanghai exhibition held earlier this year that the joint venture will be building a new model in China soon. According to the Beijing Times, that new model is none other than the Peugeot 3008 crossover.
The 3008 (pictured) will reportedly be constructed in and be available in China next year, with a 1.6 L turbocharged planned for 2013. The crossover will be a first for the joint venture, who has only produced sedans up until now.
The 3008 looks set to compete with models such as the Dongfeng Nissan Qashqai and Renault Scénic. The 3008 has been sold in China since late last year as an imported version, carrying a price tag between 246,800 and 266,800 yuan ($38,746-$41,885).
Furthermore, executives from Peugeot China have announced that the 3008 hybrid will be making its way to China soon.
