Toyota's 900000 vehicles Chinese sales target to remain the same

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 1) - With the earthquake earlier this year and slowing sales in a much more competitive Chinese market, there have been doubts that Toyota would be able to maintain its original 2011 sales target. However, the company has recently put out a statement confirming that it will not revise its sales target of 900,000 vehicles, International Finance News reported today. In order to make up for lost potential in the first half of the year, Toyota will invest most in its sales and production departments.

Following an industry slump from March lasting until May (which, in the case of joint venture FAW Toyota saw a production drop of 60 percent), Toyota fully recovered production capability in June.

Despite the 900,000 vehicles target being only 50,000 higher than last year, due to the phasing out of purchase stimulation policies, lost confidence in the industry and other factors, it is still a lofty target for the manufacturer to make. Being one of China's best-selling brands, it is crucial for Toyota to make a strong performance.
