Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 14) - Despite having nabbed official recognition from the government, due to various reasons, the Changan Ford Mazda split has still not smoothly taken place. With the Chinese market growing rapidly, Ford doesn't seem to want to continue waiting to implement its expansion plans.

Martin Burela, CEO of Changan Ford, announced that Changan Ford's new production site in Chongqing will begin operation next year. Additionally, the JV's new engine and transmission factories should be completed by 2013. Work on the three sites has reportedly already begun.

Mr. Burela also stated the JV's decision to spend $1.6 billion to open a fourth factory. The site looks to be located in Jiangxi's capital of Nanchang, 21cbh.com reported today. It is anticipated to be responsible for full automobile production. However, Changan Ford has yet to officially confirm the site's location, possibly in a bid to increase competition between different regions.
