Standards for Chinese EV charging sockets to be unified with German ones

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 28) - The troublesome question of new standards for electric vehicle charging sockets seems to finally have reached a turning point. At a summit focusing on exploring new solutions regarding electric vehicles and traffic, Deputy Director of China Automotive Technology & Research Center Wu Zhixin said that Chinese standards would match German ones, China Business News reported today. Additionally, related proposals have already been submitted to the national Standardization Administration and are waiting approval.

Standardizing charging sockets for EVs has been a long-term problem which manufacturers and suppliers have been anxiously awaiting a solution for. Universal standards will help bring an end to the varied assortment of sockets currently available.

Tianjin Qingyuan Electric Vehicle will be one of the companies leading adaptation of new standards. According to company President Zhao Chunming, upcoming policies will also cover requirements for interchanging electric vehicle technology as well as DC and AC charging standards. According to Mr. Zhao, there are 56 such standards, including motorcycles, automobiles, EV motors and fuel batteries. Safety standards are also currently being researched.
