Chery to cooperate with SK Telecom
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai December 26) - Chery announced that they will cooperate with Korean mobile phone service provider SK Telecom to establish a testing lab for telematics technology in automobiles, the Beijing News reported today.
Chery marked the occasion with a plaque unveiling ceremony at its Central Research Institute, during which representatives from the manufacturer boasted that both parties will do their best to make the concept of Mobile in Vehicle, or MIV, telematics technology a reality. MIV revolves around the idea of seamlessly linking one's automobile with both their mobile phone and a network server. Chery hopes to harness this technology for its future models.
The Chery Central Research Institute was founded in 2008. The institute's chief responsibility is to conduct research and development for Chery models in the future, specializing in the fields of information technology, automobile safety, driving environment and production materials. The institute is currently working on over 20 projects.
