Geely's 2011 sales just under 400000, exports grow 120%

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai January 10) - Geely sold nearly 400,000 vehicles in 2011, growing over five percent from the previous year, CNR reported today. While its domestic growth rate was steady, Geely's exports soared in 2011 with a year-on-year growth rate of 120 percent, far above other Chinese automobile exporters.

Geely puts down its strong performance in 2011 to improvements to brand image and product quality. Director of Public Relations Yang Xueliang commented that the advancements Geely has made in the last five to six years have been nothing short of astounding. According to Mr. Yang, Geely's manufacturing quality now rivals those of foreign joint ventures.

A lot of Geely's success is due to recent innovations in technology. The new Emgrand EC7 (pictured) recently gained four stars from the Euro NCAP safety program. Additionally, the manufacturer now has its own six-speed transmission system, and is currently working on a new seven-speed DSG transmission system.

Geely has invested a great deal of manpower and resources into developing new technology, Mr. Yang said, adding that over ten percent of the manufacturer's annual budget was spent on research and development. Geely's R&D team has expanded from 300 workers five years ago to over 2,000 now, and has worked on over 3,600 projects to date.
