Dongfeng's 2011 income totals 400b yuan
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai January 12) - Dongfeng Motor managed to earn 400 billion yuan ($63.42b) in sales income in 2011, setting a new yearly record for the Hubei-based manufacturer, International Finance News reported today. Dongfeng's performance last year has been exemplary, with the manufacturer's sales growth exceeding the industry average of three percent. The Dongfeng Group, including Dongfeng Motor Limited and other subsidiaries, managed to sell over three million vehicles this year.
"[Although] our automobile business encountered some difficulties in 2011, Dongfeng still managed to perform strongly," Fan Zhong, deputy secretary general of the manufacturer's party commission, said. Dongfeng's strong sales performance mean it was one of the market's best performing manufacturers, Mr. Fan added.
Dongfeng manufactured 3.06 million vehicles in 2011, 10.5 percent higher than the amount produced in 2011. Its sales of 3.06 million vehicles (including 1.47m sold by Dongfeng Motor Limited) represented year-on-year growth of 12.25 percent.
Dongfeng's 2012 sales goal is set at 3.3 million vehicles, with sales income of 420 billion yuan ($66.59b) and a profit higher than the previous year.
"In the ten years since China joined the WTO, Dongfeng has managed to achieve rapid growth from 230,000 vehicles [sold yearly] to over three million vehicles," CEO Zhu Fushou commented.
