Renault revises Chinese sales goal for 2012

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 27) - Renault has revised its Chinese sales target for this year to around 40,000 vehicles, the Beijing Times reported today, citing a statement made by Chen Guozhang, CEO of Renault Greater China. The French manufacturer had originally set a target of 50,000 sales for 2012. Mr. Chen also added that Renault will aim to increase the sales ratio of models other than the Koleos SUV.

According to Mr. Chen, Renault made the decision based on the current state of the automobile market in China. Renault sold a total of 24,275 vehicles in China last year, growing 65 percent. The main source of the manufacturer's sales, the Koleos (pictured above), saw its sales ratio decrease from 99 percent to 87 percent, as sales of other models increased.

In order to go about boosting sales for its other models and increasing its overall product diversity, Renault China used mature models to help stimulate sales for its newer ones. The Fluence (pictured below) and Latitude have already met their respective monthly sales targets of 400 and 300 units.

Mr. Chen also confirmed that if Renault was to manufacture a vehicle in China, the Koleos would be their first choice.
