Former Volvo China Marketing Director Sun Wei officially joins Brilliance BMW
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 2) - Former Volvo Cars China Marketing Director Sun Wei has joined Brilliance BMW, the Internet News Agency reported today, citing an official statement made by the joint venture.
Ms. Sun (pictured) worked at Volvo China for over a decade, where she was responsible for the Swedish manufacturer's sales and PR work in China. She also oversaw sponsorship for various sporting events, including the Volvo China Open and Volvo Ocean Race, which helped increase brand awareness for the manufacturer in the country.
As of late, Brilliance BMW has begun assigning more and more of its managerial positions to Chinese talent. Duan Jianjun, who joined Brilliance BMW in 2008, is currently vice president of sales, while Lei Xiaoyang jointly assumes the roles of senior vice president of finance and CFO at the joint venture. Additionally, the post of senior vice president of human resources for the JV is currently held by Li Jing. According to an official statement by the JV, Brilliance BMW has yet to confirm what exact position Mr. Sun will be assigned to, adding that an announcement would be made soon.
In other news, BMW AG has begun showing off its fleet for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, which the manufacturer is an official sponsor of. The manufacturer will reportedly provide over 3,000 vehicles for the event.
