Dongfeng Peugeot begins construction work at new R&D center

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 7) - Construction work on a new engine testing laboratory at Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën's research and development center has officially begun, Xinhua reported today. The laboratory is the first facility being worked on at the new R&D center.

According to Dongfeng Peugeot Technical Center Deputy Director Tan Minqiang, developing the new R&D center is among the joint venture's top five projects. Dongfeng Peugeot has invested a total of 518 million yuan ($82.48m) and set aside 31,000 square meters of land for the site. In addition to the engine laboratory, the site will also boast a comprehensive testing building and an automobile testing laboratory. After the site begins full operation, Dongfeng Peugeot will be able to conduct independent technological research and development work in 14 different fields, including engine technology, vehicle emissions and automobile electronics, hopefully helping to improve the JV's overall competitiveness.
