Changan PSA to begin selling cars in June
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 9) - Changan PSA's sales network will officially begin operation next month, the Beijing Youth Daily reported today. The imported Citroën DS4 and DS5 will be the first vehicles to be sold. Preliminary pricing information for the two models was announced at last month's Beijing International Automotive Exhibition,
On the heels of its recruitment drive held in Shanghai last September, Changan PSA has already completed work on 24 dealerships. According to the new joint venture's Vice President Cai Jianjun, Changan PSA's sales network will expand to cover nine more cities by the end of the year, raising its total dealership number to 33 outlets. Furthermore, sales of the imported DS3 are expected to begin later this year, while domestic production of the DS5 (pictured above) will commence at the JV's Shenzhen plant next year. Reportedly, the Chinese-made DS5 will be slightly modified to better accommodate local consumer demands.
The recently displayed Numero 9 concept (pictured below) will play an important part in dictating design trends for future Changan PSA Citroëns. According to Mr. Cai, two upcoming models will be based on the Numero 9: a new compact sedan and a new SUV. Both models will be possible candidates for domestic production in 2014. The JV expects to sell 200,000 vehicles in 2015.
