Changan's first SUV may make market debut in July

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 1) - The Changan CS35, which made its debut at April's Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, may come to the market as early as next month, auto.qq.com reported today. The CS35, which is Changan's first SUV, is expected to be priced between 80,000 and 110,000 yuan ($12,609-$17,337).

The CS35 (pictured) fits squarely in the compact SUV segment, with measurements of 4.16 m length, 1.81 m width and 1.64 m height. Its wheelbase measures 2.56 m wide. The CS35 uses a new 'ladder'-styled front grille design with traditional spherical headlights, as opposed to the 'V'-styled grille design.

The CS35 is equipped with the same 1.6 L Blue Core engine found in Changan's own brand Eado car. The engine boasts a maximum output of 125 hp and can make up to 160 Nm of torque. It is mated to the Aisin Seiki-developed Ss-II manumatic transmission. A 1.5 L turbocharged version, producing 165 hp and 250 Nm of torque, will also be available at a later date.
