Changan's new luxury car to be delayed two more years
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 8) - The debut of Changan's much talked about own brand luxury car may be delayed for another two years, Economic Observer News reported today. Production of the car was originally scheduled to begin this year.
The new car will be priced around 200,000 yuan ($31,647) and is expected to be adorned with a completely brand new logo. "Creating a high-class brand is a long and arduous process," Changan Automobile President Zhang Baolin explained. "Changan's chief goal over these two years is to improve its research and development ability and perfect its R&D structure," Mr. Zhang said, adding that, "[Changan's goal] is to do quality R&D, design, marketing and service work for [all] of its products."
According to various reports, the new car is planned to be developed and manufactured at Changan's Beijing production site, which was established in 2009. 11.5 billion yuan ($1.81b) has been invested in the model, which was originally scheduled to enter production in April.
