Great Wall recalls over 12300 Haval H6 SUVs in China

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 25) - Great Wall has begun a recall of Haval H6 SUVs manufactured this year, China Business News reported today. The recall is being made in adherence with policies set out by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. A total of 12,340 SUVs manufactured between late February and early May are targeted by the recall.

The H6s (pictured) are suspected to have a flaw with the carbon brushes in their fuel pump motors. The brushes may be misaligned properly, which would prevent the fuel pump from operating properly. Without the fuel pump working smoothly, there is a potential risk of the engine malfunctioning or catching fire.

In an interview yesterday, Deputy General Manager Shang Yugui commented that the issue is not entirely negative for Great Wall. In Mr. Shang's words, the manufacturer's experience overseas has led him to have a relatively objective opinion about vehicle recalls.

Great Wall will conduct free inspection and maintenance of all affected vehicles, in order to eliminate any potential safety hazards.
