Chery to begin selling automatic version Tiggo in early July

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 26) - The continuous variable transmission version of the Cherry Tiggo SUV is expected to make its market debut in early July, autohome.com.cn reported today. Although official pricing information has yet to be released, the CVT Tiggo is estimated to be approximately 11,000 yuan ($1,743) more expensive than the manual version, which is currently priced between 89,800 and 97,800 yuan ($14,226-$15,494).

Information on the national Automobile Fuel Consumption website confirmed the existence of the CVT Tiggo (pictured), which uses the same 1.6 L DVVT engine powering the manual Tiggo. Aside from the different transmission, the CVT Tiggo seems to be identical to its manual driven counterpart. It appears that Chery hopes that the new version will help attract entry-level buyers who prefer the simplicity of an automatic transmission.
