EVs from the upcoming BYD Daimler JV to be manufactured by BYD in China

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 9) - The first jointly produced BYD Daimler vehicle is now one step closer to reality, as Daimler has officially begun inspection of its production assembly lines, Beijing News reported today. Since the BYD Daimler joint venture does not possess production rights in China, the pure electric vehicle will be manufactured by BYD.

Both companies are also working setting up a new independent sales network for their upcoming joint venture. Currently ten dealerships have been recruited to carry BYD Daimler vehicles. The JV also has several vacant positions in its management team, which both companies are looking to fill soon. The empty positions include sales, marketing and public relations staff. An equal number of positions will be allocated for German and Chinese staff.

The BYD Daimler JV gained business certification early last March. Earlier this year, it announced a new own brand, entitled Denza, which will focus on developing EVs for China. The JV unveiled its first Denza concept (pictured) at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition in April.
