Audi Q3 to be sold in China in end of July

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 12) - Almost two years after its debut at the 2010 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, the Audi Q3 is set to finally hit Chinese markets. The Q3's market release date is set for July 25, the Beijing Times reported today. According to FAW-VW's development schedule, Chinese production of the Q3 is set to begin next year. The joint venture has already begun prepping its production site in Changchun, Jilin for upcoming production.

Ever since its Chinese debut in 2010, the Q3 (pictured) has registered high on consumers' radars, leading many to propose that the compact SUV may be destined to become one of Audi's best selling models in the country. The Q3 measures 4.39 m long, 1.83 m wide and 1.6 m tall, with a wheelbase of 2.6 m.

The imported Q3 will come with a 2.0 turbocharged engine available in two different configurations, mated to a seven speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission. The two variations boast 100 km fuel consumptions ratings of 7.6 L and 7.7 L, respectively.

The Q3's official price has yet to be announced, but dealerships speculate that it will begin at 400,000 yuan ($63,425). That price will inevitably drop when domestic production begins.
