FAW Toyota sells over 288000 vehicles in China in the first half of 2011

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 31) - FAW Toyota sold a total of 288,000 vehicles over the first six months of the year, the Beijing Morning Post reported today, citing official figures from the joint venture. The sales result represents 38 percent year-on-year growth for FAW Toyota, far above the industry average of 2.93 percent.

The joint venture's urban SUV, the RAV4 (pictured above), continues to lead the SUV market in China, accumulating over 60,000 sales over the first half of the year. The Reiz midsize managed sales of 35,000 units over the six month period. Sales for the RAV4 and Reiz grew 52 percent and 43 percent from the previous year. Meanwhile, 156,000 Corollas (pictured below) were sold, 38 percent more than a year ago.

FAW Toyota has sold a total of three million vehicles since its establishment.
