Chery Sales GM Ma Deyi resigns, Chairman Yin Tongyue to overlook sales department
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 22) - Chery Automobile has approved General Manager of Sales Ma Deyi's request for resignation, the Beijing Morning Post reported today. Mr. Ma will reportedly return to parent company Chery Holdings to work. Current Board Chairman and General Manager Yin Tongyue will directly overlook Mr. Ma's original department.
According to an internal document that surfaced earlier this month, the Chery Automobile's sales department will be headed up by relative newcomer Zheng Zhaorui. Soon after, Chery entered a phase of internal restructuring, with Mr. Zheng replacing Mr. Ma (pictured). At the same time, former Beiqi Foton Vice President Huang Huaqiong was appointed as acting deputy general manager for the department. Mr. Ma's quality assurance work will be done by the manufacturer's quality assurance department.
Several analysts speculate that the chief factor behind Chery's internal restructuring is the manufacturer's lackluster performance over the last two years, which saw both its sales growth rates and profits drop.
