Dongfeng Motor sells over 120000 trucks in August

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 12) - Growth in the market for mid- to heavy trucks in China has yet to show signs of recovery. However, Dongfeng Motor's commercial vehicle division has managed to perform relatively strongly. According to a report appearing on automarket.net.cn today, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle sold over 11,000 trucks in August. The manufacturer sold over 120,000 trucks over the first eight months of the year. Although its growth rates in the commercial vehicle segment were still negative, they were still better than the industry average. Dongfeng has also seen its share in the commercial vehicle segment grow.

Dongfeng has managed to maintain considerable growth in the commercial vehicle segment. The manufacturer sold over 7,000 heavy trucks and over 4,000 mid-size trucks in August. Eight month sales results of Dongfeng heavy trucks and mid-size trucks reached 90,000 and 40,000 units, respectively.

Subsidiary Dongfeng Bus Company has also been performing well, with its bus sales over the first eight months of the year exceeding 9,000 units. The company has also made news selling 70 school buses to schools in Honghu, Hubei.

In the views of many analysts, the Chinese truck market has entered a phase of readjustment following incredibly high levels of growth over the last few years. However, Dongfeng has managed to sustain strong growth in the segment, gaining a distinct edge over its competitors.
