Shanghai VW sells over 115000 vehicles in China in September
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 16) - Shanghai Volkswagen sold a total of 115,811 vehicles in September, Gasgoo.com (Chinese) reported today. The figure represents year-on-year sales growth of 9.7 percent for the joint venture. With the September figures in, Shanghai VW's combined sales over the first three quarters of the year are confirmed to total 894,256 units, representing year-on-year growth of 10.7 percent for the JV.
Monthly sales of VW branded vehicles totaled 96,120 units. The new Lavida (pictured above), which has been on the market for just over a month, has been attracting a lot of customers. 24,409 vehicles from the Lavida range were sold during the month, 16 percent greater than last September. The New Passat (pictured below) also brought in its fair share of new orders, with Passat family sales exceeding 20,000 units over the month. 159,534 Passats have been sold from January to September, representing year-on-year growth of 49 percent. Monthly sales of Polo compacts totaled 14,481 units, with 12,321 of those being of the new Polo. The Tiguan SUV, now in its third year on the market, managed to bring in 17,488 orders over the month, while sales of the Touran minivan totaled 3,228 units.
Shanghai VW sold 19,691 Skodas in September. Sales growth of the three Chinese-sold Skodas grew steadily. Sales of the flagship Octavia totaled 11,149 units in September and 98,302 units over the first nine months of the year. Meanwhile, 4,391 Fabia subcompacts and 4,151 Superb midsizes were sold during the month.
