Mercedes-Benz to recall over 1500 B-Class minivans in China in December

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 13) - Mercedes-Benz will recall 1,525 B-Class minivans in China next month, auto.ifeng.com reported today. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has already been notified about the recall, which will begin on December 26. The recall will target B180 and B200 minivans manufactured between late February 2012 and early October 2012.

The recall is being ordered due to concerns regarding the fuel tanks in the B-Class minivans (pictured). It is found that if the vehicles use 15 percent methanol fuel for extended periods of time, the fuel tanks valves may deform, which in turn may lead to potential fuel leakages.

Daimler-Benz China will conduct free inspection and maintenance of all recalled vehicles. Unsold B-Classes will also be repaired before being put on the market. The manufacturer will begin contacting owners of affected vehicles next month to schedule appointment times.
