Gasgoo.com (Shanghai December 6) - A recent CCTV exposé claimed that the lack of ABS and EBD systems in Citroën C4 taxis in Hubei's capital of Wuhan has led to several cases of cars braking too early or late, and even some incidents of vehicle collisions. The Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën company issued an official response on the matter, the Beijing Times reported today. In the statement, the joint venture said that any concerned taxi drivers can take their vehicles to certified dealerships for a free inspection. If any problems with poor product quality are found, the joint venture will repair said vehicles for free.

In an interview with the media, a representative from Dongfeng Citroën pointed out that production standards for taxis are different from normal cars. Therefore, private Citroën owners have no need to worry about any potential problems. Furthermore, the representative emphasized that the C4 taxis are manufactured to meet national standards.

The CCTV report alleged that C4 taxis are missing several of the features available in their counterparts. In addition to lacking ABS and EBD systems, their wheels are made out of iron as opposed to the aluminum alloy found in normal production C4s. Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën has yet to respond to these claims.
