Foton's overseas sales expected to grow over 17% in 2013

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai December 26) - Foton Motor expects its overseas sales next year to increase 17.8 percent, China Securities News reported today, citing an official statement. The company announcement was made not long after the release of Foton's new MPX commercial vehicle, which is scheduled to make its market release at next year's Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition.

According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Foton has sold a total of 548,000 vehicles from January to November, ranking first in the commercial vehicle market. The manufacturer's total sales this year look set to reach 615,000 units. The Foton brand is valued at 42.86 billion yuan ($6.77b), making it China's most valuable commercial vehicle enterprise.

Foton's two joint ventures with Daimler and heavy equipment manufacturer Cummins have also posted strong results. Overseas sales of Foton Daimler's Auman trucks have jumped 80.4 percent this year, as both companies have taken steps to strengthen their partnership. The JV's products are sold in various countries and regions across the world, including Australia, South Africa, Russia, Columbia and Indonesia.
