Gasgoo.com (Shanghai January 24) - Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën aims to sell 500,000 vehicles this year, the China Youth Daily reported today. According to the sales target, 263,000 sales are to be of Citroëns, while the remaining 237,000 are to be of Peugeots. The targets were announced as Dongfeng Peugeot confirmed selling 440,000 vehicles in 2012, marking a new annual record for the joint venture.
Dongfeng Peugeot's sales increased 8.88 percent from 2011 to 2012. Sales of its Peugeot vehicles grew especially quickly, increasing almost 25 percent, over three times faster than the industry average of 7.07 percent growth for Chinese passenger automobiles. Furthermore, monthly sales of both the JV's Peugeot and Citroën brands exceeded 20,000 vehicles from September to December.
The 500,000 sales goal is the next step in Dongfeng Peugeot's plan to sell and manufacture over 750,000 vehicles in 2015.
