Brilliance BMW to announce new own brand soon

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 28) - Brilliance BMW will publicly announce its new own brand within the next two months, Xinhua reported today, citing a statement made by BMW AG Sales and Marketing Director Ian Robertson.

Brilliance BMW President and CEO Olaf Kastner had previously mentioned plans for the own brand in an interview with auto.qq.com in January. According to him, the brand will focus on new energy models.

BMW is focusing specifically on new energy vehicles this year, with plans to release more information regarding its 'i' series of low emission vehicles. Among the lineup, the i3 pure electric (pictured above) may reach the Chinese market as soon as early 2014. The car will be showcased at this September's Frankfurt Motor Show alongside the plug-in hybrid i8 sports car (pictured below).

As far as the manufacturer's overall business operations in China are concerned, new BMW Group Region China is especially optimistic. He points out that of the nearly one million BMWs on Chinese roads, over half were purchased in the last two years. The manufacturer's used car service, which has only just begun operation, has a great deal of potential, he adds.
