Volvo's new Chengdu automobile factory to produce new S60L
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 20) - Volvo's new automobile factory in Sichuan's capital of Chengdu will officially begin operation this June, the Chongqing Economic Times reported today. Full production of the new S60L will begin soon after in October. The site will play an important part in accelerating Volvo's Chinese production program.
The Chengdu site is Swedish manufacturer's first factory set up outside of its native Sweden since 1969. How smooth progress on the Chengdu site, which is the first one established by a luxury manufacturer in the city, is will be crucial to the Volvo's development in China. To date, 50 Volvos have been manufactured at the site, while have been sent to the domestic and overseas organizations for crash and road testing.
