Dongfeng Peugeot exports 408s to Gulf countries
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 22) - Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën's first batch of 408s destined for export has rolled off the joint venture's assembly lines earlier this month. The vehicles will be sent to various Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, UAE and Kuwait. Furthermore, according to a Nanfang Daily report appearing today, Dongfeng Peugeot has received payment for over 150 exports orders for the 408 from buyers in the Gulf.
Expanding into the export market has long been part of Dongfeng Peugeot's long-term development plans. The JV hopes to take advantage of both of its parent enterprises advances in technology and marketing to further develop its export business. Ever since it exported its first vehicles to Egypt in June 2011, the JV has rapidly expanded into overseas markets.
Dongfeng Peugeot's exports exceeded 3,000 vehicles in 2011, bringing in 230 million yuan ($36.52m). The following year its exports reached 3,528 vehicles. Dongfeng Peugeot exported 556 vehicles over the first two months of the year, equivalent to year-on-year growth of over 183 percent for the JV. The JV's vehicles have been sold in France, Argentina, Brazil, Russia, Egypt, Nigeria, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea and several other countries.
