Shanghai VW's May sales exceed 100000 units

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 13) - Shanghai Volkswagen's automobile sales in May totaled 100,003 units, auto.qq.com reported today, citing the joint venture's recently released sales performance review. The joint venture sold 81,118 VWs and 18,885 Skodas over the course of the month.

The New Passat (pictured above) was one of Shanghai VW's fastest growing models by sales. A total of 15,362 New Passats were sold in May. 101,810 Passats have been sold in China since 2012, making it one of the country's best-selling midsizes. The Tiguan crossover brought in 13,008 new orders over the course of the month, equivalent to year-on-year growth of 37 percent. The Lavida, which has been sold in the country for nearly four years now, continued to bring in a lot of new orders, with a total of 18,808 units sold in May alone. Monthly sales of the Polo family, which now includes the New Polo and CrossPolo, reached 14,282 units. Finally, 2,306 New Touran minivans were sold over the course of the month, up 24 percent from last May.

The Octavia (pictured below) remained the best selling Skoda in China in May. 12,036 Octavias were sold in May, equivalent to year-on-year growth of 24 percent. Monthly sales of the Superb and Fabia totaled 3,491 units and 3,358 units, respectively.
