BMW Brilliance recall long wheelbase 5 series, EPS has lurking peril

On August 5, BMW Brilliancesubmitted record of the recall plan with AQSIQ. It will recall 150 thousand China-made long wheelbase 5 series limousine initially. The main reason for recalling is because of the EPS potential problem. BMW Brilliance told media that it has not received any complain, but the problem was found during product check.

According to the requirement of , BMW Brilliance submitted record plan withAQSIQ. It decides to recall long wheelbase5 series limousine made from Aug 24, 2009 to Aug 31 2012 initially, 143,215 in sum.

The seal ring of electronic power line plug can’t perfectly match the plug of recalled car. In someextremes, such as vehiclegoes through surface water, and water may get into plug which causes rust inside. However, rusty plug causes more resistancewhich will decrease steering power. Meanwhile, caution light lamp on dash board, and warning message shows up at centerscreen, which has lurking pearl for diver. BMW Brilliance will change EPS plug freely to eliminate the lurking pearl.

EPS is the system of traction control, which includes ABS (Anti-Skid Brake System) and ASR (Acceleration Slip Regulation). It is one of the best ways to anti-skid. The difference between ABS & ASR only and ESP is ABS and ASR reactive passively, but ESP is able to probe and analysis vehicle condition and correct wrong driving, particularlysensitive with oversteer and understeer.
