Yong Ren is rumored to maneuver to Dongfeng Group, takes over its joint venture

Management changes in auto industry had been in the wind recently. There is another bigwig will change his position after Yongming Ye of Shanghai GM. According to inner month, Yong Ren, vice general manager of Dongfeng-Nissan, will be maneuvered to vice general manager position of Dongfeng Group instead Wenjie Zhou. It is only time matters for the announcement.

It is simple when look through Yong Ren’s CV. He joined South Strategy Preparation Team of Dongfeng in 2000, scilicet Aeolus Automobile, predecessor of Dongfeng- Nissan. Yong Ren has taken the leader position of Chinese part for the next 10 years until now. It is very rarely in joint venture auto industry, and creates “Yong Ren time” of Dongfeng- Nissan.

Dongfeng- Nissan starts from a 20 million Yuan investment, 65 thousand annual sales small auto maker. After 10 years (2003- 2012), the company now has 773 thousand and almost 100 billion Yuan annual sales, and takes the top 5 market share stably. According to analysis result by Gasgoo.com, Dongfeng- Nissan sold 465 thousand in sum of the first 7 months of 2013, decreased 11.34% over the same period of last year, which includes 3 months increase. It is a good recovery speed among Japan auto in China after Diaoyu Island event busted between two countries.

The manoeuver is an award for Yong Ren’s contribution for 10 years, analyst said Yong Ren will replace Wenjie Zhou who retire at the beginning of this year after he been promoted to Dongfeng Automobile. He will take over Dongfeng- Nissan, KIA, Dongfeng Yulon and Dongfeng Renault at least, even includes Dongfeng- Volvo commercial vehicle joint venture.

As it known, successor of Yong Chen might be his subordinator Xianpeng Zhou. Both of them belong to South Strategy Preparation Team. At the beginning of Dongfeng- Nissan, Xianpeng Zhou took the position of vice director of manufacture department. After years hard working, he has taken secretory of party position of Dongfeng- Nissan from his predecessor Yong Ren, and it is considered as a seamless docking for Xianpeng Zhou’s replacement.
