Volvo Chengdu factory officially kicks off

After three years of preparation, adhering to the Volvo Global quality, Chengdu factory officially starts to operate , which becomes the first exclusive factory in China, the second home of Volvo.

In recent years, Chengdu market has become one of the most important regional markets in the Western region of China, whose broad market space and upgraded consumption demand have attracted a series of luxury car brands to settle down here. In the Catalogue of Priority Industries for Foreign Investment in Midwest (revised in 2013) jointly issued by National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce , it has clearly set out to encourage foreign investment in labor-intensive industries favorable for environmental protection in the Central and Western regions. This time, in response to the call of the country's West development, Volvo set the first vehicle factory in Chengdu region. Industry experts pointed out that, as West project encouraged by the government, Volvo has seizes the initiative in the the upcoming tide of joint ventures westward expansion.

The official operation of Chengdu plant marks the officially launch of Volvo China project, the strategic significance of which is self-evident. In the launch of Chengdu factory production line, Volvo production and procurement Senior Vice President Lars Wrebo said that Chengdu factory production was a "milestone event" for Volvo.

Volvo Chengdu factory is equally significant for Chengdu city, which will further secure the role of Chengdu, "China automobile manufacturing center in the West".
