Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen JV to be exclusive seller of Peugeot and Citroen imports in China

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 4) - Following Dongfeng Group's investment of French manufacturer PSA Group, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën and PSA announced a strategic alliance partnership, Economic Observer News reported today.

According to the agreement, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën will be PSA's official sales channel in China. Aside from the Citroën DS line, all other imported Peugeot and Citroën passenger automobiles will be sold exclusively in Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën dealerships, including the Peugeot 4008 (pictured), Peugeot RCZ, Citroën C4 Aircross and Citroën Picasso, which are all scheduled to be released in 2015.

With many multinational manufacturers beginning domestic production operations in China, joint venture companies in the country are gaining exclusive import rights. Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Infiniti, Nissan and Fiat are all examples of brands whose import sales are being carried out by their respective joint ventures. This allows imported and domestically-produced vehicles to be sold using the same sales channels, allowing manufacturers to maximize resource use.

In the past, Peugeot and Citroën import sales were overseen by the PSA Group's Asia operations division. Officials from Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën believe the agreement will allow them to expand the scope of their business and further boost their independent management ability.
