Chery and Subaru reportedly sign exclusive cooperation agreement
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 27) - Over the years, Subaru has been searching for a suitable Chinese partner to work with without success. However, a Beijing Times report revealed that Chery and Subaru have already signed an exclusive cooperation agreement. If Subaru does decide to pursue domestic production in the country, its first natural choice will be Chery.
According to various sources, Subaru and Chery have remained in close contact over the months. Reportedly, on the day of the Guangzhou International Motor Show Chery General Manager Yin Tongyue and Subaru executives met for lunch. Chery has previously sent a team to visit Subaru’s headquarters in Japan and participate in training.
Worth pointing out is that Pangda Group and Subaru established a joint sales company last year, with Pangda getting the exclusive distribution rights for imported Subaru vehicles. However, no progress has been made on the domestic production front.
