Gasgoo.com (Shanghai Apr 8) –It has been the 5th year since Geely cooperated with Geely and the synergistic effect also keeps growing. According to the report of some media, 1st new model from the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA for short), which is developed by Geely and Volvo, will be released in the next year. And Mr. Yang, the director of Geely public relations department, told reporter it would be a A class SUV and the models from CMA would be regarded as high-end products, competing with the models from joint venture auto enterprises. It is still uncertain whether new models will be with Geely Logo or not.

In Sep. 2013, Geely and Volvo established China Euro Vehicle Technology together, whose main task was the models from CMA, deriving new generation Eruo C class model and B class model. Mr. Yang also told reporter CMA is a brand platform, quite different from FE and KC platforms. Industry analysts figure that modularized platform has been an effective way to reduce the cost.

The model from CMA platform will be equipped with a 3 - cylinder engine which is developed by Volvo and authorized for Geely to use. The data shows this model could meet Euro VII standard and will be manufactured in Taizhou factory of Geely.

After the release of the model from CMA platform by Geely, Volvo plans to put XC40 from this platform into the market in 2018 to compete with Audi Q3 and BMW X1. V40 and S40 will also be developed on the base of CMA. Volvo expects to shorten product cycle by the sharing of SPA and CMA.
