Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 20th)-China BAIC Motor Corporation, Ltd aims at selling 20,000 alternative vehicles in 2015, according to China Economic Observation.

The aim of selling 20,000 alternative energy vehicles is three times more than the sales of 5,510 last year. Hu Enping, chief public relation officer of BAIC, said that BAIC would set a goal to sell 40,000 alternative energy vehicles in 2016, 80,000 in 2017, 113,000 in 2018 and 200,000 in 2020. And this year it will improve the capacity in a short time so as to satisfy the predicted soaring demand.

BAIC built a basement in Laixi city in Qingdao province in China last year, which is so-called the largest plant of alternative energy vehicles in the world. This basement is mainly responsible for the welding, coating and assembly of electric vehicles after the completion of the first phase. It will go to production in the second half this year and produce about 50,000 alternative vehicles.

The construction of this basement has been finished in March this year. 50,000 alternative energy vehicles will go into production in this basement towards the end of the year. And the maximum annual capacity of the basement can reach 100,000 units.

Economical electric vehicle C30DB and M30RB will be produced in this basement in the first phase. Meanwhile, though still in the phase of research and development, subcompact electric cars may also be taken into consideration.

In order to achieve the goal, BAIC has made a great effort on product development and marketing management. It focuses on carrying forward the research and development on plug-in electric vehicle as well as expanding the electric vehicle market. Besides, advanced electric vehicles that may surpass Tesla will make public appearance in the 2016 China (Beijing) International Auto Show.
