BAIC targets 10% car weight reduction by 2020 with Lightweighting tech

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai Jun 2) - Being one of the three mega trends in automotive technology(the other two are safety tech and environmental protection tech), automotive lightweighting has received widespread concern of global mainstream automakers. Hence, many car enterprises, like BAIC Motor Corporation., LTD. (BAIC Motor), are engaged in lightweighting research. In the recently-held 2015 international symposium on automotive materials technology, BAIC Motor stated that they would shave off the weight of each passenger car by 10% by 2020.

BAIC Motor has achieved an initial effect in lightweighting research especially after they set the target in January with establishing a special lightweighting leading organization.

In order to make cars non-toxic, odorless and more environmentally friendly, BAIC Motor also forges a standard system for VOC(volatile organic compounds) control and ELV(End-of Life Vehicle) countermeasures.
