JLR accelerate combating sales slump in downward Chinese market

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 7) - Faced with the downturn in Chinese auto industry, Jaguar Land Rover recently released its second model Land Rover Discovery that will be mass produced in China, as well as lowering selling price of XE an imported model.

Due to the overall sales slump in Chinese auto industry in the first half of the year, JLR is losing its edge in luxury vehicle market segment. The company is implementing a series of measures to regain the market share later this year through adjusting business policies, lowering selling price of several models and introducing new models into China.

Land Rover Discovery, a family SUV which made its first presence in 2014 September, will be launched in Chinese market in the fourth quarter this year. The imported version of the model is allocated with an optional third row of seats, which probably will be kept in the Chinese version.

Meanwhile, JLR will reduce the selling price of the imported XE from a range of 478,000 to 688,000 CNY to the price span of 398,000 to 578,000 CNY, a big decline of 80,000 to 110,000 CNY.

The introduction of Land Rover Discovery indicates JLR’s commitment to Chinese market, as well as the effectiveness of cooperation between the company and Chinese market. According to the announcement of the company, the model will be put into mass production in Changshu plant in the south of China, when the existing family SUV Q5, GLK and X3 popular in Chinese market will be challenged.

In the first half of the year, JLR reported accumulative retail sales of 45,446 units in China, an increase of 27.26% compared with 62,479 units of last year. To combat the sales slide, the company, thus, implement above measures including lowering the selling price of Chinese version ofRange Rover Evoque.
