Dongfeng Nissan launches new Murano to realize a million annual sales target

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 13) - A few days ago, Dongfeng Nissan launched new Murano middle-sized SUV at a low selling price 130,000 units compared with the old version of the model.

The joint-venture intended to lift the annual sales volume to a million units, which would mainly depended on the new Murano, according to the statement of Zhou Xianpeng, deputy general manager of Dongfeng Nissan.

Mr. Zhou added that the accumulative sales quantity of the joint-venture in the first seven months of the year was 540,000 units, and following the first and second half proportion in sales of 45 percent and 55 percent, there would be no much challenge for the company to realize the annual sales goal of a million units this year.

For the company, SUV models have always been the pillar in raising sales. In the first half of the year, SUV sales quantity accounted for 29.5 percent of the company’s overall sales and new X-TRAIL consisted 16.2 percent of the overall sales volume, according to the statistics of China Passenger Car Association.

The existing SUV production line of the corporation is Venucia T70, whose selling price is 80,000 to 120,000 CNY; 140,000 to 220,000 CNY priced Qashqai; and 160,000 to 270,000 CNY priced X-TRAIL. With the launching of new Murano, Dongfeng Nissan will also cover the selling price of 240,000 to 380,000 CNY.

As for the price drop of new Murano compared the old one, the company explained that the overall production cost had been reduced as the company put most its auto spare parts into domestic production. And the increasingly fiercer competition also forced the company to lower the selling price of the Murano to keep its edge. The rivals of Murano mainly included Highlander of GAC Toyota and Edge of Changan Ford whose selling prices were set between 240,000 and 430,000 CNY.
