Landwind launches the Evoque like model X7 as expanding sales channel in China

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 19) - Landwind X7 has drawn much attention upon its first public show in last year’s auto show in Guangzhou city just because it looks like Rover Evoque very much. Additionally, it is the first automaker in China that has adopted China’s own transmission, the 8AT transmission manufactured by an unknown Chinese supplier.

Landwind has received much focus in the appearance patent fight with the famous JLR. Though JLR has reported to Chinese authorities accusing Landwind for plagiarism, the latter won the final game for it had applied for the vehicle appearance patent before JLR did in China.

These two hot issues on the Landwind serve as publication and sales promotion in a way. Till the day before its launching, Landwind X7 had received more than 6,000 affirmed orders on the Internet. Its selling price reports to be 129,800 CNY to 147,800 CNY, falling 268,200 CNY and 404,200 CNY behind compared with the lowest distribution and the highest distribution of Rover Evoque.

While most automakers in China are experiencing sales channel shrink, Landwind company expanded its sales channel through developing 46 new primary dealers in China. Additionally, 70% of its dealers gained profit in the first seven months of the year amid many money-losing dealerships in China.

As one of the several companies invested by two Chinese automakers, Landwind is an automobile marque owned by the Chinese automaker Jiangling Motor Holding, a joint venture between Changan Auto and Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC).

The joint-venture achieved satisfying performance in launching three SUV models Landwind X9, Jewellery and Landwind X6 in 2002 to 2006 when SUV started to take off in Chinese auto market. But then it failed in MPV market and car market. Therefore, it shifted back focus on SUV again in 2009.
