Trumpchi of GAC in China is plotting its road into high-end automotive market

Gasgoo.com（Shanghai Nov 30）— GAC group releases the “1513”strategy for the thirteenth “five-year” plan that the total production and sales are expected to reach 2.4 million units in the end at the Guangzhou Auto Show recently.

Except for mainly introducing its popular products GA8 and GS4, Trumpchi, as the development focus of GAC in the future, revealed four new models at the auto show, including seven concept vehicles of MPV and EV Coupe and two alternative energy vehicles of GS4 EV and GA3 PHEV.

GAC will bring to market to market GA6 of 1.5T,which will reflect the most advanced technology achievements of automobiles in March next year, aiming to improve China's image in the field of high-end brands, said Wu Song, CEO of GAC group.

It is said that Trumpchi will bring to market GA8, its first flagship executive car, which can demonstrates progress it has made in producing new models. Besides, it will also reveal a medium- and large-size SUV at Beijing Auto Show next year. This SUV will take Highlander as direct rival and is expected to go to sales in September in 2016. I – lounge, whose concept cars debuted at Guangzhou Auto Show, will also go to sales around 2017, bracing for competition with Alphard of VW. With all these new models produced and brought to market, Trumpchi is determined to plot its road into the high-end market.

GAC has given priority to the development of alternative energy vehicles, pointed out Wu Song. After establishing the laboratory for launching alternative energy vehicles, GAC has made a lot of progress in R&D in this field. On this basis, it plans to set up a subsidiary for alternative energy vehicles. By 2020, the production and sales of alternative energy vehicles of Trumpchi are expected to account for the half of that of GAC, totaling 100,000 units.

Trumpchi has sold a total of 137,000 units, with a yearly rise of 59%, in the first ten years this year. It is predicted that its total sales of this year might surpass 180,000 units. With historical monthly sales of 21,000 units in October, GS4 has achieved rise in sales for six consecutive months after launched this year. Success of GS4 can be ascribed to GS5 and GS6 to some extents. That GS4 is welcomed lies in the fact that it is cost-effective and high-quality. Regarding its large market potential, it may be hard to predict the sales of GS4.

Trumpchi will also launch GS6, a higher-end product than GS4, except for developing the whole new GS5, which aims to highlight cost efficiency. Meanwhile, more advanced models of cars and SUVs will be brought to market by Trumpchi.

Chinese automobile brands will dominate the automotive market in the following five to ten years, declared Wu Song.
