China auto exports in February 2007 increased more than 50%

The latest statistics released by China Association of Automobile Industry shows that from January to February this year, Automobile exports earned an increase of over 50%, which has continued to maintain a rapid growth momentum.

Auto imports in February decreased compared with January, when exports continued to increase, compared with the same period last year, while imports declined, and foreign exchange earning from exports continued to maintain rapid growth. In February, the total import and export volume reached 4.006 billion U.S. dollars, of which imports were 1.282 billion U.S. dollars. 34.38% drop compared with January, decreased 10.05% year-on-year; and foreign exchange earning from exports were 2.724 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 68.84%. Sedan exports which once again topped 10,000 vehicles, reaching 10,039 vehicles.

 


Camry new high: month sales 15,540 units in March

According to the latest issue of national auto market, data in (wholesale volume) March 2007, China's total mid and high vehicle sales reached 75,713units, in which Camry sold 15,540 units, ranking No.1, PASSAT and ACCORD ranked second and third with sales of 9973 and 9879 units respectively, followed by LaCROSSE, with sales of 7696 units.

The outstanding achievements of 15,540 units are not only the new Camry's sales high, but also a new record in China car market in history. Moreover, it is already for Camry to win the fourth consecutive championship on sales from December 2006.
 

 

Chery export exceeds 10,000 units in March

A source from Chery says that export volume of Chery autos exceeds that of 10,000 units in the third month for the first time, listing the top in China's export market.

Chery has maintained strong development momentum as of this year.

Chery Auto aims to export 70,000 units in 2007 but this volume may be boosted to 100,000 given from the export contract of the company in April. Chery export most of its vehicles to East Europe and Middle East etc, and has won wide recognitions from customers at home and abroad.
 

 

Boosts market share in Q1

GENERAL Motors Corp reported sales on the Chinese mainland market rose 25 percent in the first quarter of this year from a year earlier, helping to boost its share in the world's second largest auto market.

The world's biggest auto maker and its joint ventures on the Chinese mainland sold 291,588 vehicles from January to March, with March posting strong sales of 100,538 units.

The burgeoning sales helped to drive GM's first-quarter market share in the mainland to 13.9 percent, a 0.5 percent gain from the same period last year.

It was the second time that GM saw its monthly sales break the 100,000-unit mark this year.
 

 

Luxury vehicle sales will surge to 400,000 units in the next five years

Analysis predicted in next five years, China's luxury car market will see rapid growth; annual sales will surge from the current 150,000 units to more than 400,000 units.

According to statistics, 1.6~2.5L engine vehicle sales accounted for 36.15% of the total sales volume in China auto market in 2006, sales reached about 2.6 million units; 2.5L engine vehicle sales were about 0.85%, sold 60,000 units per day.

Luxury vehicle sales were about 50,000 units, more than 2% of market share. Luxury vehicle maintained synchronization with the automobile market price trend in 2006, but the price cut was marginal.

With 2.0L engine vehicles in the share of new models increased, and more and more foreign brand sedans made in China, such as Mercedes, BMW, JAGUAR, Ferrari, Lexus and Infinite, Chinese luxury vehicle market will continue to expand in the future. From January sales data we can see sales of Benz and Audi increased 64% and 33% in January 2007, reached the highest record in history.
