NAC to negotiate to settle intellectual property rights dispute
Following potential intellectual property disputes between SAIC Group and NAC Group and Britain MG, Another intellectual property rights disputes that plagued the two sides, that is the original intellectual property right of MG Rover 45 platform. As a key part of the intellectual property which belongs to Japan Honda Motors, NAC Group wishes to develop a new vehicle platform based on the original 45 platform but encountered considerable obstacles: intellectual property rights. Two solutions can be adopted: negotiations, or self-development.
NAC Global Product Chief Robert said, "We are now negotiating with Honda Motor in the hope of getting their license. After all, Honda Motors had already ceased these technologies in its manufacturing."
But it is known that MG Rover 45 was evolved from the earlier model Rover 400 platform, and the Rover 400 evolved directly from Civic. So, Honda Motor European business spokesman said it is not very likely for Honda to be granted rights to NAC.
