Chrysler Group will launch at least 5 Jeep models into the Chinese market in the next one or two years, including the Grand Cherokee and the Commander to be displayed at the Shanghai International Auto Show, said Simon Elliott, president and chief executive officer of Chrysler Group (China) Sales Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler.
According to him, Jeep brand has always been an essence in SUV development history and combines the hallmarks of 4x4 leading mastery, authenticity and adventure. It was first developed during the Second World War when General Eisenhower claimed it as one of three weapons for the final victory, then the Jeep brand was registered as international trademark in 1950. In the past 60 years many multi-purpose SUVs were developed, including Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, etc, and the brand has become the most popular car models selling to nearly 100 countries and regions worldwide with a sales volume of more than 9 million units.
This year Chrysler targets to rebuild the Jeep brand in China.
