Chang'an Ford Mazda Engine Company launched
Ford China chairman Cheng Meiwei, also vice president of U.S. auto manufacturer Ford, made several strategic announcements at the Shanghai Automobile & Manufacturing Technology Exhibition, including the official start of volume production at the Chang'an Ford Mazda Engine Company; vehicle production at Chang'an Ford Mazda Automobile Company's (CFMA) new Nanjing facility to be started by the end of 2007; production of the third-generation Ford Mondeo to be produced later in 2007 at CFMA's Chongqing plant; and production of an all-new Ford small car at CFMA's Nanjing plant to be started in 2008.
"Ford China now covers one of the most comprehensive and competitive operations in the Chinese market, including full-scale vehicle and engine production; research, development and engineering; sales; aftersales services; and automotive financing," Cheng added. Ford products in China cover all lineups of mid-high range sedans, SAVs, SUVs, small vehicles, compact cars, c commercial vehicles, etc.
Chang'an Ford Mazda Automotive Co., Ltd also unveiled the third-generation Mondeo, which is another Ford model to put into volume production in China after S-MAX.
